The Redang Islands have plenty to offer both the experienced and the amateur fisherman, and are particularly good for sea fishing.
The period from March till October is always the best season to cast your hook in the sea. Experienced anglers usually come prepared, and boats are available for rent through us, PJ Cruiser.
During this season, regular fishermen will be well equipped with cooler boxes filled with ice blocks to keep their catch cool. Just jump into the boat, with your rods, sun block, hat, snacks and not forgetting sufficient drinking water, and you’ll be ready to go!
Deep sea fishing is always challenging, not only because of the unpredictable condition of the sea but also the fish seem prepared to test your fishing skill, and your equipment, to the limit. It can be difficult for first timer. Sea sickness is the first obstacle to be overcome before the actual business of catching a fish can begin. However, once they’ve got the hang of it, even novice fishermen can land some terrific fish and will soon find themselves well and truly ‘hooked’ on this bracing sport.
Not far from Perhentian, the islands of Perhentian and Kapas are popular places for deep-sea fishing trips. (Bear in mind though, that you must never fish within the Marine Park waters. Fishing activities are strictly prohibited). No fishing is allowed within a 3.2km radius of the island as Pulau Redang is gazetted as a marine park.
